We are a family company
and
the black craft is passed down from father to son.
Investment in the regeneration of the Alphaset molding mixture has been completed. Regeneration ensures that at least 70% of used foundry sand can be reused as a secondary raw material. Not only will this reduce the amount of waste produced and the purchase of new sand, but together with the regeneration circuit, the machine molding shop will be expanded with a few more molding machines, which will double the production capacity of the overloaded molding shop and shorten delivery times.
This year, investments in energy-saving technologies were launched – we are changing the entire heating and energy management system and further reducing waste management.
On January 1, 2021, the company changed its name to Komerční slévárna Turnov a. s. The brand was redesigned and the colors of the corporate identity were redefined. The blue color of our logo was replaced by the bright orange color of molten cast iron. We have added gravity casting of aluminum to our production program.
This year the son Ing. Marco Kyncl takes over the wheel. He initiated the modernization of production and laboratory equipment and further directed investments into supporting technologies, which significantly improved the working environment – new separators were purchased for the production hall and the changing rooms and all facilities were renovated.
Since February 1, 2010, the foundry has been operating as a family-owned joint-stock company. The production program has been expanded to cover special CrNi cast irons, and castings are now exported all over the world.
The installation of an automatic core sand preparation machine for COLD-BOX cores and a 25-liter automatic core shooting machine has created the conditions for further product innovation, the possibility of producing complex castings, an increase in the share of products with higher added value, and thus an improvement in the company's position on the European market. These are thin-walled castings with minimized material and machining costs. The OPTI information system, which covers company-wide management, was also implemented.
In 2003, a new ABB-1000 kg medium-frequency electric furnace was installed, replacing melting in a cupola furnace.
The new furnace increased the foundry's melting capacity from the original 800 to 2,500 tons of castings per year.
The foundry focused on commercial deliveries of castings in single, small-batch, and medium-batch orders with maximum customer orientation in terms of deadlines and quality requirements. This year, a new FORMTEC Air Impec molding line (air injection molding with compaction) was installed, which enabled an increase in the foundry's capacity to three shifts. This investment increased molding accuracy, reduced the physical strain on workers, and improved the working environment. A new COLD-BOX core shooting machine was also installed, enabling the production of cores with very complex shapes and high strength.
The foundry was taken over by Henry Kyncl on January 1, 1997. Until then, the foundry had been part of the state-owned company Sklostroj, for which it produced hydraulically and pneumatically highly stressed machine parts for glassmaking machines from gray and malleable cast iron. Sets of glassmaking molds made of BT3 material were also supplied for these lines.
